I got some news today.
My mother, who has breast cancer, got more details into the procedure.
The first thing that I will say is as far as places in the world to get sick, Boston is one of the best, considering that we have multiple hospitals that are leading the field in cancer research.
That being said, we also got good news.
The doctors found the lump, the cancer, early in the stages. Very early.
The doctor said that this was a very simple garden variety cancer and in fact non-fatal if treated.
My mother will have a lumpectomy, and not loose her breast.
This will be followed by radiation, but not Chemotherapy.
This doesn't make the cancer disappear, but its really good news considering what I knew before. I still know many people who have gone through much worse and are still struggling with it, but hopefully everything will go smoothly for my mother.
She goes in for the operation the day before thanksgiving.
Thank you very much for all your kind thoughts and words.
