Tom "Cruise"

Before - After

The check is in the mail.

I have had this been told to me by 3 different companies. See, companies arent really that eager to give you your money back. Becauseyou knowthey have it. I mean why does it take them Six weeks to give me back 23 dollars that I was overcharged on my phone bill?

Nevertheless.

Tom Cruise got HATED on in my diary, and I never thought that I would do this, but I have to defend him.

Let me start off by saying 1) Hes crazy and 2) Hes a public nightmare right now.

It went down hill fast for Mr. Cruse. In fact, ever the craziest of celebrities usually dont fall so quickly.

But I think Tom Cruise has a counterpart.a kindred soul.

Tom Cruise Michael Jackson.

Think about it. Everyone in the world loved Michael Jackson. He was the King of Pop. He made some of the best CDs of his generation and even now his music is very very good. But then the crazy took over.

Michael started doing that Moonwalker video/movie. Then he teamed up with Disney. Then he just bought kids of his own. Oh and the craziest ranch in the history of ranches. (has there ever been a location you wanted to visit less? Would you want to touch anything? Wouldnt you be thinking I wonder if white Michael masturbated on this ride. )

Anyway, Tom Cruise was a media darling. He was making great blockbusters and then he started getting critical acclaim. He was transitioning into becoming one of the greatest movie stars off all time. Dont believe me? Every movie he came out with made at least 100,000 million dollars except 1) The Last Samurai and 2) Far and Away.

But the difference, I think, is that Tom like Michael was always crazy. Some blame Scientology. The crazy started way before that. Realize that once out of High School Tom dropped out the Seminary to take an acting job. Do you think its a surprised that he went back to religion with Scientology? The fact remains that Tom Cruise is a intense self made movie star that overcame his height and hid his crazy ways long enough for us to forget about them.

But like most people, once he thought he was bulletproof, thats when people started cheering for him to fall. And I was shocked in my comments on how many people wanted him to fall.

Lets take a visual look at the Crazy Cruise

From his first movie, Tom can be seen wide-eyed and belt less. This, to me, is the least crazy hell look.

tom1

Tom made awfully big sunglasses a staple, from his hot love scenes with Chloe from 24.

tom2

There are bad pictures. There are awful pictures. There are times when I wake up and I am the ugliest human being alive. There are mugshots of people that have just come down from a three week drug binge. And yet, all those things seems pale in comparison to the horrific nature of this picture.

Not only is Tom Cruise holding hands with Mimi Rodgers (who he wouldnt even talk with now), but the outfits of the two of them say we are the reason Joan Rivers needed plastic surgery.

At least hes wearing a belt.

tom3

Then he did days of thunder which was good for a few reasons. Most of these reasons are somehow I am convinced it lead to the Will Ferrell Nascar movie. The second reason what the following trivia fact from IMDB:

While filming Days of Thunder (1990) at Daytona International Speedway, he enjoyed playing football with the truck drivers. He was the receiver - he loved going deep to catch a pass.

Truck Drivers? Receivers? Going Deep? Oh thats not a triva fact, thats a public outing.

Finally he started dating Nichole Kidman. Even then. Look at the crazy. Its intense!

tom4

The next time he was in a movie with someone as pretty it was Interview with the Vampire. Tom Cruise did a fantastic job at making us think that his crazy on screen presence was acting. But we know now that a little bit of all those characters comes out in him all the time now. I mean I could totally see Lestat jumping on a couch!

tom5

Tom made some of the biggest 80s period flicks, like Top Gun, Rain Man, Risky Business, and even Cocktail.

Then he made Jerry Macguire. Its probably his best all around work. Not only does he play a guy going crazy from a high stress job thats sick of his life, but he won over men (sports agent, sports movie) and women (love story). It was just good acting the whole movie and Renee got the Actress nomination and victory.

When my male friend was asked what lines he remember it was Show me the money and Never Stop F8cking Me!. Meanwhile a female friend remembered the Bitter Sweet You complete me and the silly the human head weighs eight pounds.

tom6

That movie lead to Tom not only getting paid, but getting respected. Its the true kiss of death. Now he was not only rich, but a bulletproof figure in Hollywood the likes of Spielberg, Jack, and Tom Hanks. But the difference between them and him, is that Tom kept pushing.

tom7

First of all, he was bizarly associated with Rosie ODonnell. This was a strange union on unholy forces like the Wolfman and Dracula. They fight side by side only because they are both evil.

Then came the breakup with Nicole Kidman. Mysterious.

Followed by the Affair with Penelope Cruz, and the weird decision to get braces.

But yet, American still loved him. His movies were raking in the cash. His fans were still high in numbers. They liked the Penelope/Tom duo for some reason and his ex wife was getting known as an actress herself.

He was acting in movies like magnolia, where he was changing his image and expanding the breath of his acting.

Also Directors were lining up to work with him. Spielberg twice. Crowe Twice. Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese, Brian De Palma, Francis Ford Coppola, Oliver Stone, and Ridley Scott. Hollywood loved him.

Then Collateral.

tom10

A very good movie, and honestly well acted by Cruise and Foxx. But Cruise was the clear villain, and had only really played a villain once before as Lestat (though Lestat was a very likable villain). But this was when Tom fired his long time publicist, and hired his sister. Tom Cruise was never seen as a villain, only a hero.

Family loves you, but one thing family cant do, is keep the public cork in on your craziness.

Whether Katie homes was a stunt or not, the public didnt like the age difference and the wackiness of this relationship. To counter Cruise made more public appearances. The more he showed up, the more people got to see the real Cruise. The more they saw the man, and not the actor, they disliked him.

tom11

But why? I claim the man has always been insane! But the insanity is perfect for his movies. He dives into the characters. He eats them for breakfast. He nails roles, and he is a fantastic person to watch on screen. But his main fans have always been female. And when females stop liking the person, they can no longer stomach to look at the actor.
I dont know if Tom Cruise will recover. Frankly, I dont care. My final points on Tom are as follows.

1) Like Michael Jackson, you can not like him, but dont deny his body of work.
2) Like Michael Jackson, you cant feel bad for him considering the money hes made.
3) Like Michael Jackson, I dont think hell ever be able to recover.

Feeling bad for him? Let me leave you will his movie salary since the start of his career.
