Very, very well done. I love to see you play devil's advocate even if the devil is Tom Cruise. Hate the personality, enjoy the body of work. Very well put. Thanks, Gumpers.

What I don't like about Tom Cruise is that in MY opinion (which is obviously different from yours-- which... is okay. I validate you :) Okay, anyway, he ruins Cameron Crowe films. Crowe is one of my favorite filmmakers, but a few of his movies aren't great, and the degree to which they suck is directly proportional to Tom Cruise's participation. Say Anything? BRILLIANT. Singles? EXCELLENT. Almost Famous? BRILLIANT. Jerry Maguire? Over the top and over acted (if still exceptionally well written). Vanilla Sky? Again, a great concept, but over the top and overacted. Elizabethtown? It's good. Not great, but good. (Tom Cruise had a producer credit.) We also have to account for Kirsten Suck-I mean, Dunst in that film. That'll bring anything down. And, um, that's all I have to say about that. Yay for you updating again!

I've hated tom cruise ever since he uttered the words "aint nobody gonna call the police in this neighborhood. they know betta!" with horribly screechy voice in the Outsiders. I called crazy on his fug ass years ago. The man has ONE front tooth. Its right in the middle like an egg tooth!

i still love michael jackson. to quote dave chappelle, "he made thriller. thriller." i never really loved tom cruise though. and now his overt crazy has forced me to hate him for eternity.

Ya mean, Tom Cruising for the Crazy Tribe? He's against medication for a reason. His career is built on people who are on the edge of mental breakdowns. And you forgot my favorite Tom Cruise biographical role in "Magnolia" where he played an egotistical (oh really?) self centered (no way!!) big mouth who teaches men how to score with chicks...when in real life, in the movie, he was a total crybaby. It actually even made me wonder if there was a script involved. So boo on T.C. He's a jerk. But thanks for all those COOOOL 1980's Tom Cruise pics. Neat! :-)

I can seperate The Tom from his movies. Hell I've even seen "All The Right Moves" - in my defence Lea Thompson does have a topless scene.

I have to say that for some reason...I always loved Cocktail. Always. Anyway, i'm sort of neutral on Tom Cruise. Who cares if he's crazy?...until it actually starts to affect other people, everyone should just leave him be.

I've made my opinion of Tom Cruise pretty clear and I understand people being able to separate the man from his work, I can toousually.

My point is only that my view of him now skews anything he'll ever do againin my eyes. I won't be able to see him in a scene without thinking to myself, "Man this guy is a psycho!". I may never be able to take him seriously again. Then again, he may be able to turn things around. Stranger things have happened in Hollywood.

BTW, for me, it's not about scientology, I'm a fan of Travolta and he's one of their most notable members. People can practice whatever religion they want as far as I'm concerned. As long as that doesn't infringe on other people's lives.

And Lu, don't you think it already has affected people? What about Kidman or their children? What about Katie Tom-wants-you-to-call-me-Kate-and-won't-let-me-scream-during-the-delivery-of-our-child Holmes?

Phil, Lea Thompson goes topless in a movie?! How come I don't remember this?

Yeah, he's crazy all right. Crazy like a bear. Bears are crazy. They'll bite your head off if you're wearing a piece of steak on it.
You know what I'm talking about.
And, Gumpy, you know I internet heart you.

I am so jealous of Nicole Kidman. She is probably the one woman on earth who can truly say to her ex, "Breaking up with me was the best thing that ever happened to me." Tom is an ass. Pure and simple. Any role where he got acclaim was playing a self-centered twerp. Let's banish him to a WB show where he belongs.

Bravo, Gumpie! He has always been crazy and we never knew it. Closet crazy is always the most interesting, I think. I am truly disgusted by him. He is vile. But thatdoesn't mean I wouldn't watch him in a really good movie. On video, of course...
