Sorry Gump. Join the masses of the unemployed. We'll just have a big party, point at working people, laugh briefly and then wonder how the hell we're going to find another job.

I've lost my job before due to downsizing/layoffs. I hope that (as with my situation) this is a good change for you. May all your roads lead to better opportunities.

Hey, you could always move to Canada and live with your in-laws. At least, that's what I did. A good reply to "How are you?" is "I'm better than I would be with a sharp stick in my eye; thanks for asking."

That sucks man. I've been laid-off before without any notice I was forced to pack a box and walk out with an escort in front of my former coworkers. Ten others did the same that day. It's one of the most difficult things to face. To have it done around the holidays makes it worse. The good news is, my being laid-off turned out to be the best thing that ever happen to me professionally. It gave me the kick in the pants I needed to improve my situation. My next job came with a 50% pay increase and a whole lot more employment satisfaction. The important thing to do is, not panic.

I am sorry. Getting unemployment totally rules, though, you will see.
