Another Reason would be Big Ben and the following commercials alluding to his penis size.

I bet you a Holstein cow that the Seahawks win.

Wow, for me to weigh in on a sports issue. I will root for Seahawks. I have no opinions on sports, especially not the fuhbuh, but I got me some friends in Seattle, so happy Seattleites are a good thing. But on the other hand, there are people in my office who like the fuhbuh and if Seattle wins I will have to hear about it in the office, which I don't like. But maybe, just maybe, they will buy beer for me if they're real happy. Hmmmm...maybe I'll just put my headphones on and see what happens.

Clap your hands, say yeah = the reason why I don't listen to the radio. I seriously had no idea you were actually talking about a band. I thought you were quoting the song or something and I clicked on that NPR article and was like "what the holy hell????" Jesus. Great music critique. I just all around enjoy what comes out of your head.

All you people are suckas. Clap Your Hands=Awesome. Going to see them in April. Oh man, I hope the Steelers take it. That would be awesome

jes is correct and i thank her for pointing that out about my z issue. however, that is not why i'm here. really, i don't care about the superbowl this year. the steelers beat us so i can't root for them on principle. and really, who wants to see the seahawks as SB champs? this superbowl sucks almost as much as last years.

I love that, Clap Your Hands Say Naaaaaa. I so completely agree with you on them. They couldn't suck more if they tried, and I generally really, really like that whole genre of music. I kept reading about them in Rolling Stone or hearing about them before I heard them for myself and so I downloaded some of their stuff and was so monumentally disappointed. I couldn't even give it more than a couple chances. I'm so sure I hate it. I just deleted it. Clever, though. Naaaa. Funny. (sorry I'm dead tired). Yay Gump! (there's some enthusiasm fuhyuh).

Crap Your Hands is the indie equivelant of Brittany Spears. They got the right marketing and endorsement (pitchforkmedia.com) so everyone loves them, but no one can say quite why. Except that all their indie friends like 'em. So why not. People not so easily swayed recognize the fact that it makes their ears bleed.

But just to play devil's advocate on your insightful ideas about music, does the fact that musical taste is completely subjective make it even more difficult to find a wide appeal in the music market? thus successful bands are even more talented? Does the subjectivity foster a highly critical and discriminating minority (hard to please people with good taste)? And does that mean bands they like are that much more worthy? If it were objective, every band could just follow the rules and make money. Wouldn't that take the magic of music, taste, and high art out if it? Just some thoughts you inspired. I don't know where I stand.

Well, I don't know that I've ever heard this Clap Your Hands. But I listen to FNX, do they play them there? Speaking of FNX, probably the best thing I've heard on the radio lately is that bit they play, about the "Boston Accent Lessons", and all these birdy-sounding people are saying "pepp-ridge fahm". Honestly, that's the only reason I listen to the radio anymore.

And I read all the football stuff, just so you know!

"And no one cares about hockey."

Not true! In fact, I'm driving down to Pittsburgh in March to watch a game down there. Not because I'm a Penguins fan, but because the Leafs are playing and it's cheaper for me to drive 8-10 hours, get a motel room for the weekend and go to the game than it would be to go to a game in Toronto.

I'm rooting for Seattle for several reasons. First, I've always liked them. Second, as Jet fan, I'm allergic to the Steelers. Third, everyone has that one ex-boyfriend or -girlfriend from a different city who leaves you with such rotten memories that you forevermore hate the city he or she came from. Mine was from Pittsburgh. Fourth, the team is named after a bird.

Matty - 2006-01-24 19:20:35
There ain't no such bird as a Seahawk. Maybe they should have been called the Seattle Ospreys?

sharon - 2006-01-25 20:28:45
i don't want the seahawks to win either because i have coworker who has forgotten the word "shower" who tramps around like he's the king, cause his fave team, the seahawks. I want to see a grown, balding man CRY. Then I will curb crush his jaw [think history american x]. That, and I remember when Cowher [did i spell that right] was the youngest coach to get to the playoffs...this is was when his hair was all in one color though.
