ASHLAND, Mass. -- A Whitinsville man riding his motorcycle away from his wedding rehearsal was killed in a crash that was witnessed by his fiance.
Colby Miller died Thursday after he slammed into a dirt embankment on Winter Street. His finance, Meredith Flanagan, was following in a car. They were planning to get married in three weeks.
Their priest, the Rev. Ron Ingalls, said Flanagan had a moment with Miller before he lost consciousness.
"It's absolutely tragic," he told the MetroWest Daily News of Framingham. "They had just come from rehearsing their wedding ceremony. They were so happy and looking forward to everything."
The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. after the couple left the rehearsal at Ingalls' home.
Miller was taken by ambulance to a nearby baseball field, where a helicopter arrived to fly him to a hospital. But Miller was pronounced dead in the ambulance.
Ashland Police Officer Arthur Sistrand said a driver that passed Miller before the crash told police Miller was speeding in the middle of the road.
Police said Miller was in his 30s, but no further information was immediately available Friday morning.
